1 killed in blast at cricket stadium in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
An explosion during a cricket match in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday (September 6) left one person dead and several others injured.
The blast took place at Kausar Cricket Ground in Khar tehsil of Bajaur district, reports The Hindu.
Bajaur District Police Officer Waqas Rafique confirmed that the blast was carried out through an improvised explosive device.
“It appears to be a targeted attack,” he said.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack. However, police officials blamed it on terrorists in light of Operation Sarbakaf launched by security forces last month.
Last Saturday, three militants were killed in a police operation, and a constable died in an ambush in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
