10 expatriates die after consuming alcohol in Kuwait
Ten expatriate workers have died and several others remain in critical condition after consuming toxic alcohol in Kuwait’s southern Al-Ahmadi Governorate.
The incident took place in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area, where the victims allegedly purchased adulterated liquor from Block 4.
Initial investigations point to alcohol poisoning as the cause of death. All the deceased were employed as construction workers for various local companies. Authorities have not yet disclosed their nationalities, Arab Times reported on Wednesday (August 13).
According to reports, around 15 expatriates were admitted to Farwaniya and Adan hospitals on Sunday (August 10) in critical condition after drinking the illicit alcohol. Ten later died during treatment, while others remain hospitalized, with some having completely lost their eyesight.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior has launched an investigation to identify the source of the toxic liquor and determine responsibility for the deaths.
