10-storied building catches fire in Mohammadpur

A fire has broken out on the top floor of a 10-storey building in Mohammadpur, capital. The building is located opposite Japan Garden City near the Agriculture Market.

The Fire Service and Civil Defence received information about the fire on the 10th floor of the building at 7:03 pm on Sunday, May 24.

Two units from Mohammadpur Fire Station and two units from Kallyanpur Fire Station were dispatched to the scene. Two units have already arrived and begun efforts to control the blaze.

A Fire Service control room duty officer said fire service vehicles faced severe traffic congestion on the roads, delaying their arrival at the scene. While two units reached quickly, the other two are still en route.

The fire service could not immediately confirm whether the building is residential or commercial. The cause of the fire and the extent of damage are not yet known.
