11-party alliance candidate Akhtar Hossain wins in Rangpur-4

Akhtar Hossain, 11-party alliance candidate and National Citizen Party (NCP) member secretary, has been unofficially elected in the Rangpur-4 (Pirgacha-Kaunia) constituency in the 13th National Parliamentary Election. Contesting with the shapla flower symbol, he received 1,47,947 votes.

His nearest rival, BNP's former district president Emdadul Haque Bhorasha, contesting with the sheaf of paddy symbol, received 1,38,944 votes.

According to Election Commission sources, voting was held in 299 parliamentary constituencies across the country, as polling in the Sherpur-3 constituency was suspended following the death of the Jamaat-e-Islami candidate. A total of 12,77,11,893 voters were eligible to exercise their franchise in these seats.

Among them, 6,48,25,361 are male voters and 6,28,85,200 are female voters. Candidates from 50 political parties contested at 42,779 polling centres nationwide. Out of a total of 2,028 candidates, 1,755 contested as party nominees and 273 as independent candidates.
