Government has deployed 14 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) across Dhaka and its surrounding districts to maintain law and order and ensure public safety.

BGB Public Relations Officer Md. Shariful Islam confirmed this on Wednesday morning (November 12).

The deployment follows the banned Awami League’s announcement of a “lockdown” programme in the capital on Thursday (November 13).

Authorities say the move aims to prevent possible acts of sabotage, including cocktail explosions and arson attacks on vehicles.

According to sources, 12 platoons have been positioned across Dhaka city and two more in nearby districts. The operation will continue until further notice.

The heightened security measures come ahead of the verdict in the war crimes case related to last year’s mass uprising, in which Sheikh Hasina and two others are accused.

The verdict is set to be delivered on November 13 — the same day the banned Awami League announced its lockdown programme.
