19 killed in bus–truck collision in Telangana

At least 19 people were killed on Monday morning, November 3, when a bus and a truck collided head-on in Shevela Mandal, in India’s Telangana state.

According to India Today, a truck travelling in the wrong direction hit the bus with great force. The bus was carrying around 70 passengers, and the impact of the collision killed many instantly.

Local residents said chaos broke out after the accident. Locals, along with the police, helped rescue the injured passengers. Officials fear the death toll may rise due to the critical condition of several victims.

Within just two days, India has witnessed two major road accidents that have left 40 people dead. Earlier, on Saturday morning, at least 18 people were killed and three injured when a bus rammed into a stationary trailer on the Bharatmala Expressway near Matoda village in Rajasthan’s Phalodi district.

Police reported that most of the passengers died instantly as the bus struck the rear of the parked trailer with great force. The victims were residents of the Sursagar area of Jodhpur, returning from the Kolayat Temple in Bikaner after offering prayers.
