2 buses torched during blockade

Miscreants set fire to 2 buses in Dhaka district during the 48-hour blockade in the tenth phase. On Wednesday (December 6) around 8:30 am, a BRTC bus was set on fire in Taltala area of Khilgaon, Dhaka and a passenger bus of Itihasa Paribahan in Ashulia, Savar.

Meanwhile, Officer-in-Charge of Fire Service Headquarters (Media Cell) Md. Shahjahan Shikder said Miscreants set fire to a staff bus of Agrani Bank at Taltala of Dhaka's Khilgaon area this morning (December 6) on the first day of 2-days blockade enforced by BNP and its allies. The incident took place at 8:30am.

He also said that 2 units of Khilgaon Fire Station reached the spot under police protection and extinguished the fire locally.

Meanwhile, Ashulia police said, the bus of Itihasa Paribahan (Dhaka Metro B 15-3295) left for Dhaka from Chandra in the morning. When the bus reached Baraipara, the miscreants escaped setting fire. Local people put out the fire. However, due to the quick extinguishment of the fire, the damage was comparatively less. Only five seats were burnt.

Ashulia Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Sadruz Zaman told the media, 'Someone or some set fire to the bus and we are trying to arrest those involved in this incident. The bus is currently kept at a safe place in Baraipara.'
