2 election officials held while taking meal at Jamaat leader's house

Two election officials were detained while they were taking meal at a local Jamaat leader's house at night after leaving the polling station in Lakshmipur. They were in charge of the Madinatul Uloom Islamia Madrasa polling station in Lakshmipur-3 (Sadar) constituency.

Lakshmipur Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Hossain Mohammad Raihan Kazemi confirmed the matter.

He said that the detainees are in the custody of Chandraganj Police Station. The detainees are Assistant Presiding Officer M. A. Osmani and Polling Officer Md. Iqbal Hossain.

M. A. Osmani is a teacher at Gandhabyapur Government Primary School and Iqbal is a teacher at Dakshin Tumchar Government Primary School.

District Police Department sources said that Osmani and Iqbal went to take their dinner at the house of a local Jamaat leader after leaving the polling station.

Acting Executive Magistrate Kathoypru Marma detained them after receiving information. They are accused of negligence in performing their duties.
