2 metro stations to remain closed on Pahela Baishakh

Two metro rail stations in the capital will remain partially and fully closed on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh, the authorities have announced on Tuesday (April 14).

The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) said in a press release that the Dhaka Metro Rail Line-6 will suspend services at specific stations for safety and crowd management reasons.

According to the announcement, Shahbagh Metro Station will remain closed until 12 noon, while Dhaka University Metro Station will remain closed for the entire day.

Authorities said the decision was taken considering passenger safety and the expected large gatherings during Pahela Baishakh celebrations.

Commuters have been advised to use alternative stations and plan their travel accordingly. The metro rail authority also expressed regret for the temporary inconvenience.
