Two officials of Dhaka's two city corporations, who were removed from their duties on charges of negligence in removing sacrificial animal waste, have been temporarily suspended. The Ministry of Public Administration took this action through a separate notification on Monday, the first working day after the Eid holidays, on charges of 'misconduct'.

The two officials, who were dismissed with the rank of Deputy Secretary, are Dhaka North City Corporation Regional Executive Officer Md. Shadequr Rahman and Dhaka South City Corporation Regional Executive Officer Kazi Saleh Mustanzi.

The day after Eid-ul-Azha, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman went out to inspect several areas of the capital. At that time, widespread mismanagement in the removal of sacrificial animal waste came to his attention. Immediately, on the instructions of the head of government, the two officials were withdrawn from their duties and assigned to public administration. A formal dismissal notification was issued against them on the first working day after the Eid holidays.
