2 prisoners killed in army firing in Nepal
Two prisoners were killed and twelve others injured in an army firing incident at Ramechhap District Jail in Nepal, Nepalese authorities confirmed.
The clash took place after inmates demanded their release, prompting army personnel to open fire to regain control, according to reports from BBC Bangla.
The incident follows a series of prison-related violence in Nepal.
Earlier, five juvenile prisoners died while attempting to escape from a correctional facility in Banker District on Tuesday night. Since the intensification of the Gen-G movement, numerous prisoners have attempted to flee from various district jails.
The Nepal Army has reportedly arrested dozens of escapees, including 192 prisoners from Rajbiraj Jail in Saptari District. Additionally, seven were apprehended while attempting to flee toward India, and 12 voluntarily returned to prison.
According to the Himalayan Times, the ongoing unrest in Nepal has claimed 34 lives and left 1,368 people injured, figures confirmed by the Nepal Health Ministry.
