22 Pakistani Taliban killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
At least 22 members of the Pakistani Taliban were killed in a joint intelligence-based operation in northwestern Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, the military said on Friday. Armed attacks have increased in the region, posing growing challenges for Pakistani authorities.
According to the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces and police carried out the operation in Khyber district after receiving intelligence about the presence of militants.
Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed militants, who were allegedly involved in numerous “terrorist activities” in the area.
Tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have been rising for months amid an increase in attacks in Pakistan’s western regions along the Afghan border. Earlier this week, security forces killed two armed individuals, including a suicide bomber, in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military added.
