2,200 chicks killed in 17 days

A total of 2,200 golden chicks have died in two attacks on a poultry farm in Adamdighi upazila of Bogra in two phases in a span of 17 days.

The latest attack was on Thursday (May 22) night, when 1,200 chicks aged 26 days were trampled to death at the Panna poultry farm in Nasratpur Collegepara area of ​​Amdighi upazila.

The owner of the farm, Harunur Rashid, said that he has been raising and marketing chicks of different breeds in the farm set up next to his house for a long time. He said that on Thursday night, the miscreants cut the net of the farm and trampled the chicks to death.

Earlier, on May 6, the miscreants killed another 1,000 chicks aged 15 days using the same tactic. Harunur Rashid claimed that the two attacks caused a loss of about Tk5 lakh.

His wife Shabnam Mostari filed a written complaint with Adamdighi Police Station on Friday (May 23) in this regard.

Adamdighi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Mostafizur Rahman said that after receiving the information, the police visited the scene. It is believed that this was a hostile incident. Legal action will be taken subject to investigation.

A case of a previous incident is also pending in the court, which is currently being investigated by the PBI.
