2,362 still missing in devastating flood in Nepal

Nepal Police has informed that rescue and search operations are continuing in search of the missing people after the devastating sudden flood in Nepal. Rescue teams have recovered 669 bodies so far. At the same time 2,362 people are still missing.

Spokesperson of Nepal Police Abhi Narayan Kafal informed this information on Saturday (August 29). He said among the missing 1,863 are citizens of Nepal. Among them there are 1,591 men and 264 women.

Besides, there are 499 foreign nationals in the list of the missing. Police has informed that among them there are 223 men and 300 women. Operations are being conducted in various areas for searching the missing and rescuing the casualties since the flood.

According to police information, among the 669 recovered bodies there are 148 women, 268 men, 22 adolescent girls and 20 adolescent boys. Outside this another 211 partial human remains have been recovered. So far 20 of the identified bodies have been handed over to the families.

2,301 people injured in the flood have been rescued and moved to safe places. Among them 1,506 are men and 795 women. About one thousand people are currently staying in nine shelters of Nuwakot district after losing their houses in this devastating disaster.

However police has informed that all the displaced people staying in the shelters of Dhading district have already been moved elsewhere. Along with searching the missing, recovering bodies and identifying them the work of taking the affected to safe shelters is also continuing. Rescue and search operations are continuing across Nepal to deal with the situation.
