Israeli forces carried out fresh airstrikes across the Gaza Strip, killing at least 24 Palestinians and injuring 87, according to local authorities.

The Gaza administration said the attacks violated a six-week-long ceasefire.

The first strike on Saturday (November 22) targeted a car in northern Gaza, followed by attacks in Deir al-Balah and the Nuseirat refugee camp, reports Al Jazeera.

In Gaza City’s Rimal area, a drone strike killed 11 people, said Dr. Rami Mohanna of Al-Shifa Hospital.

Additonally, three others, including a woman, were killed in a home in Deir al-Balah. Witnesses described heavy explosions and smoke blanketing the area.

Gaza’s government media office said Israel has violated the ceasefire at least 497 times since it began on 10 October under US mediation, resulting in 342 civilian deaths—mostly women, children and the elderly.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, however, claimed the latest strikes were in response to an attack by a Hamas fighter on Israeli-controlled territory. "Five senior Hamas members were killed," said in the office statement.

However, Hamas has not yet responded to the claim. The organisation accused Israel of repeatedly breaching the ceasefire under “fabricated pretexts” and urged the U.S., Egypt and Qatar to intervene immediately.
