An unprecedented incident has occurred in amateur football in the Morbihan region of France. The referee had to show 24 red cards at once due to terrible chaos in a regional derby match. The incident has been described as a ‘disgrace’ in local football history. Goal.com reported.
According to the report, the match between the second division team of the region, Avenir de Guilliers and Independiente de Morne, ended in a 2-2 draw. Although everything was normal during the match, the situation became heated immediately after the final whistle. The argument between the fans of the two teams quickly turned into a clash. Later, the player and a parent got involved, which made the situation even more terrible.
The French media ‘West-France’ reported that the father of a Morne player entered the field and participated in the clash while trying to protect his son. He was injured in various parts of his body in the fight. Panic spread among the spectators at that time. The referee failed to control the situation and made a drastic decision.
Of the 27 players who took part in the match, 24 were shown red cards simultaneously; 13 from the Gilier team and 11 from the Moran team. Witnesses said that some people also used sticks during the clash. The police later arrived and brought the situation under control.
It is worth noting that strict disciplinary action may be taken against the two clubs involved.
