At least 25 members of the same family were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza’s Sabra area. Al Jazeera reported the incident on Monday, September 22. Many more are feared trapped under the rubble.

Local sources said several houses in Sabra were destroyed early Sunday morning. At least 17 people have been rescued alive so far, but rescuers are still digging with their hands to reach others. Families claimed as many as 50 people may be trapped in the debris. Rescue work has slowed dangerously due to insecurity when approaching the wounded and missing.

A relative said, “I appeal to the whole world—help us. Our relatives are buried alive; we can hear their cries, but we cannot reach them.” They further alleged that Israeli drones opened fire when attempts were made to carry out rescue operations, creating panic.

Videos circulating on social media showed the injured and dead being rushed away in a small vehicle, while in another clip a grieving mother cried out, “I have lost all my children.”

On the same day, heavy airstrikes were also carried out in Gaza City’s western Shati refugee camp and the south-western Tal al-Hawa area. Laval Tower in Nasr district and a nearby house were also bombed. In another strike on central Gaza’s Bureij refugee camp, seven people were killed, including four children among the injured. Citing an emergency source, Al Jazeera reported the strike hit near a United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) clinic.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry and local medical sources quoted by WAFA, at least 68 people were killed in Israeli attacks since dawn Sunday. The latest figures from Gaza authorities show a total of 65,283 killed and 166,575 injured since October 2023.

In addition, four more people died in Gaza on Sunday due to hunger and famine, raising the total deaths from starvation to 440, including 147 children.
