26 candidates withdraw nominations from 19 seats in Sylhet division

On the last day of withdrawal of nomination papers for the 13th National Parliament elections, 26 candidates from 19 seats in Sylhet division have withdrawn their candidacies.

On Tuesday (January 20), returning officers of the four districts of Sylhet, Sunamganj, Moulvibazar and Habiganj confirmed the information.

A total of 11 candidates in Sylhet district have withdrawn their candidacies. Among them, Ehteshamul Haque of NCP and Tajul Islam Hasan of Khelafat Majlis in Sylhet-1 constituency, Zaman Ahmed Siddiqui of Ganadhikar Parishad and Md. Abdul Hannan of Jamaat-e-Islami in Sylhet-2 constituency, Dilwar Hossain of Khelafat Majlis, Lokman Ahmed of Jamaat-e-Islami and Nurul Huda Juned of NCP in Sylhet-3 constituency, Ali Hasan of Khelafat Majlis and Md. Rashel ul Alam, Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Md. Anwar Hossain Khan in Sylhet-5 constituency and BNP's Faisal Ahmed Chowdhury in Sylhet-6 constituency have withdrawn their nominations.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis's Haji Mukhlesur Rahman in Sunamganj-1 constituency, Islami Andolan Bangladesh's Md. Rafiqul Islam Chowdhury, Jamiat-e-Ulama-e-Islam Bangladesh's Shoaib Ahmed and Khelafat Majlis's Md. Sakhawat Hossain in Sunamganj-2 constituency, Jamaat's Yasin Khan in Sunamganj-3 constituency, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis's Md. Azizul Haque in Sunamganj-4 constituency, LDP's Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Khaled and independent candidate Md. Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury in Sunamganj-5 constituency have withdrawn their candidacies.

Four candidates have withdrawn their nominations in Habiganj. They are--Jamaat's Md. Shahjahan Ali and Noman Bin Sadiq of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish in Habiganj-2 constituency, Advocate Chowdhury Ashraful Bari Noman of Ganadhikar Parishad in Habiganj-3 constituency and Mokammel Hossain of AB Party in Habiganj-4 constituency.

On the other hand, four aspirants have withdrawn their nominations in Moulvibazar district. Of them are--Lokman Ahmed of Khelafat Majlish in Moulvibazar-1 constituency, Mohammad Lutfar Rahman Kamali of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish in Moulvibazar-3 constituency and Mohammad Abdur Rab of Jamaat-e-Islami in Moulvibazar-4 constituency.
