3 buses torched in Gazipur
Miscreants set fire to three buses at different locations in Gazipur on Tuesday night and early Wednesday, causing panic among residents.
However, no casualties have been reported, according to fire service officials.
The first incident took place at dawn on Wednesday when an unidentified group torched a bus on the Dhaka–Tangail highway near Peyarabagan of Bhogra Bypass. Firefighters from Bhogra Modern Fire Service quickly extinguished the flames.
Around the same time, another minibus was set ablaze in Beraid Chala, Sreepur upazila. Sreepur Fire Service personnel brought the fire under control.
Earlier, around 10.00pm on Tuesday, a minibus was partially burned at Chakrabarti along the Kaliakoir–Nabinagar highway.
Mohammad Mamun, deputy assistant director of Gazipur Fire Service, said damages are estimated at Tk20 lakh for the Peyarabagan bus and Tk10 lakh for the Sreepur incident.
