3 candidates withdraw nomination in Rajshahi
Three candidates from two parliamentary constituencies in Rajshahi district have withdrawn their nomination papers.
Deputy Commissioner's office gave the information on Tuesday evening.
The administration said that the symbol allocation process will be held at the Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner's conference room on Wednesday (January 21) at 10 am on the occasion of the 13th National Parliament Elections and Referendum 2026.
Earlier, the election cell of the Returning Officer's office informed that three candidates from two constituencies in Rajshahi withdrew their nomination papers on Tuesday afternoon. The last day for the withdrawal of nomination papers was Tuesday and they submitted their applications to the Returning Officer's office within the stipulated time.
Later in the day, BNP's rebel candidate Sultanul Islam Tarek from Rajshahi-1 (Godagari-Tanoor) constituency applied to withdraw his nomination papers.
In Rajshahi-2 (Sadar) constituency, Jamaat-affiliated LDP candidate Md. Waheduzzaman withdrew his nomination. He backed Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Mohammad Jahangir and withdrew from the election.
In addition, Muhammad Fazlul Karim, a candidate of the Islamic Movement Bangladesh, who is not in any alliance, also withdrew his nomination from the Rajshahi-2 (Sadr) constituency, considering the issue of popularity.
