Three top leaders of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP)—Abhijit Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das—who were detained during a movement protesting India's Election Commission's voter list revision and demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, have been released.

CJP's legal affairs chief Ratna Singh said the three CJP leaders were released after being produced before an executive magistrate at Delhi Cantt Police Station on Sunday, October 11. Related sources said they were released on bail on the condition of not doing anything that "disrupts peace" for one year.

Meanwhile, in a post on social media announcing the leaders' release, CJP wrote, "At last, Delhi Police has been forced to release Abhijit Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das." The post also said, "Cockroaches never die."

It may be mentioned that they were shown arrested on Sunday morning, the second day of a two-day movement called against India's Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over allegations of irregularities in the voter list re-scrutiny or Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. Earlier, on Saturday, the first day of the movement, they were taken into police custody from a flight at Delhi airport.

Due to this movement, Delhi Police created an unprecedented security ring by closing all routes to the historic Jantar Mantar in central Delhi. When the main gathering fell through as a result, angry crowds broke out in protest in small groups in various parts of the city. To control the situation, at least 3,000 protesters, including politicians and social workers, were detained, a large portion of whom were released at night. Among those released were Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's supporters and popular YouTube activist Dhruv Rathee, known as a sharp critic of the ruling NDA government.
