3 Idiots actor Achyut Potdar passes away
Veteran Bollywood and Marathi actor Achyut Potdar passed away on Monday (August 18) at the age of 91.
He died at Jupiter Hospital in Thane, Maharashtra, where he had been undergoing treatment for health complications. The exact cause of death has not been disclosed., reports Times Of India.
Potdar had a prolific acting career spanning over four decades, appearing in more than 125 Hindi and Marathi films. Known for his versatility, he played key roles in both commercial blockbusters and critically acclaimed films.
Some of his notable works include 'Akrosh', 'Ardh Satya', 'Tezaab', 'Parinda', 'Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman', 'Rangeela', 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai', 'Parineeta', 'Dabangg 2', and 'Ventilator'. He also gained popularity for his role as a college professor in the 2009 film '3 Idiots', where his dialogue "Hey, kehna kya chahte ho?" became widely quoted.
Potdar was also a familiar face on Indian television, with performances in series like 'Bharat Ek Khoj', 'Pradhan Mantri', 'All the Best', 'Aahat', 'Wagle Ki Duniya', and 'Majha Hoshil Na'.
Before his acting career, Potdar served in the Indian Army and later held senior positions at Indian Oil Corporation. He began acting in films after his retirement in 1992.
