3 killed in shooting near Israeli consulate in Istanbul

Three gunmen have been killed in a shooting outside the Israeli consulate in Istanbul, Turkey.

Local media reported this information, citing Turkish authorities on Tuesday (April 7).

According to a CNN Turk report, the attackers were ordered to stop by police as they were approaching the consulate building. When they did not obey the order, shooting began between the two sides and two police officers were also injured in the gunfight that lasted about six minutes. It is believed that the gunmen were trying to reach the floor of the consulate building where the Israeli office is located.

Turkish television channel NTV reported that the attackers had long-range rifles and a large amount of ammunition and each had backpacks on their backs. Security has been tightened in the area following the incident.
