33 Afghan militants killed in Balochistan army operation
At least 33 Afghan militants were killed in an army operation in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed on Friday (August 8).
The militants, affiliated with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), had infiltrated from Afghanistan via the Sambaja border into the Zhob district on Thursday. Upon detecting their presence, Pakistani security forces engaged them in a gunfight that lasted several hours. The bodies of 33 militants were recovered from the site of the confrontation.
According to the ISPR, the militants had crossed into Pakistan with the intent to expand TTP's activities in Balochistan. A large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was seized at the scene. The ISPR further claimed that the infiltrators received support from India.
