At least 36 Palestinians have been killed in a series of intense Israeli attacks on the blockaded Gaza Strip. Gaza's Civil Defense reported that many others were also injured in the attacks carried out throughout Saturday (April 26).

Mahmoud Basal, a spokesperson for the Civil Defense, told Xinhua News Agency that Israeli forces targeted residential buildings, crowded public areas, and tents in different parts of Gaza.

He added that 13 people were killed in two homes in western and southern Gaza. A drone strike in Beit Hanoun, northern Gaza, killed 3 more people. Another 2 were killed in an attack on a house in Al-Zawaida city in central Gaza.

Basal also said that 4 people were killed in a café in Deir al-Balah city, and 5 others died in an attack on a gathering of Palestinians in the northern part of the Maghazi refugee camp. Additionally, 7 more were killed in shelling in central Gaza’s Al-Zawaida and Al-Mawasi in Khan Younis.

Since March 18 this year, Israel has resumed airstrikes on Gaza, violating the ceasefire. So far, at least 2,111 Palestinians have been killed and 5,483 injured in these attacks.

According to Gaza's Health Ministry, since the start of the Israeli aggression on October 7, 2023, a total of 51,495 people have been killed and 117,524 injured.

Meanwhile, Hamas’s military wing, Al-Qassam Brigades, said in a statement that they attacked Israeli soldiers in a house in the Shujaiya neighborhood on Saturday, causing several casualties.

Hamas has proposed a five-year ceasefire in exchange for the release of Israeli hostages. However, Israeli forces continue their military operations in Gaza, and fighting between Hamas and Israeli troops is ongoing.

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has warned that food supplies in Gaza have run out. Their last stock has already been distributed among the local people.
