US President Donald Trump has called for commercial shipping to remain normal in the Strait of Hormuz, but the UK, Germany, Japan and Australia have rejected the call outright.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said at a briefing on Monday that the UK is working with allies on a viable plan to open the Strait of Hormuz. However, he stressed that the UK will not be part of any NATO mission and will not get involved in any larger war.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius rejected Trump's call, saying, "This is not our war, we did not start it."

Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi told parliament that we are not considering launching any maritime security operations at this time given the current situation in Iran.

South Korea said that a decision would be made based on careful review after close communication with the US. On the other hand, Australian Cabinet member Catherine King directly rejected the proposal to send warships to the Strait of Hormuz.

The Chinese embassy did not comment directly on the issue, but said, “It is the responsibility of all parties to maintain stable and uninterrupted energy supplies.”

The Strait of Hormuz is a vital energy export route for the world. Tensions have risen as a large number of countries have so far rejected Trump’s call, but no military operation has been launched.
