40-day holiday in schools from today
The country’s schools will be closed for 40 consecutive days on the occasion of ongoing Holy Ramadan and upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
According to the official academic calendar, the holidays are starting in all government and private schools from Sunday (March 2).
Analysing the academic calendar, the holidays for the holy month of Ramadan, Shuvo Doljatra, Independence Day, Jumatul Bida, Shab-e-Qadr and Eid-ul-Fitr will start from March 2 and end on April 8.
The holy month of Ramadan started from March 2. Since February 28 was Friday and March 1 was Saturday, the last class in schools was held on February 27 (Thursday). Accordingly, educational activities will be closed for 40 consecutive days. In addition, SSC and equivalent examinations are starting from April 10. The holidays will be longer in institutions that have examination centres.
In this regard, the heads of educational institutions said that holiday notices have already been issued in schools in the capital. As the SSC exam holidays coincide with the Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr holidays this year, the educational institutions are going on a long vacation. However, the Department of Secondary and Higher Education has urged educational institutions to hold classes during the exam breaks.
