492 arrested in 24hrs Dhaka crackdown

A total of 492 people were arrested across Dhaka in the past 24 hours as part of regular law-enforcement operations conducted by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

According to a DMP press release, police also filed 29 cases during the period.

The highest number of arrests was recorded in the Mirpur Division, with 106, followed by Tejgaon with 105 and Wari with 69.

Motijheel recorded 61 arrests, Lalbagh 45, Gulshan 42, Uttara 35 and Ramna 26.

The Detective Branch (DB) arrested two people, while the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit arrested one.

During the operations, police seized 4 kilograms of cannabis, 4,533 yaba tablets, 75 bottles of Phensedyl and 11 mobile phones.

One victim was also rescued, the DMP said.

The operations were carried out in different police station areas across the capital, with officers recovering various pieces of evidence and narcotics in the process.

Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway.
