5 more die of dengue
Five more people have died of dengue in the country in a single day. At the same time, 1,139 patients have been newly admitted to hospitals.
This information was given in a press release sent by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Wednesday (November 12) morning.
The release said that from 8 am on Tuesday to 8 am on Wednesday, 179 people were newly admitted in Barisal division, 115 in Chittagong, 223 outside the City Corporation of Dhaka division, 254 in Dhaka North City, 143 in Dhaka South City, 89 in Khulna division (outside the City Corporation), 46 in Rajshahi division, 82 in Mymensingh division, 5 in Rangpur division and 3 in Sylhet division.
At the same time, 1,051 dengue patients have been discharged from hospitals across the country. With this, a total of 77,989 people have recovered and returned home this year.
According to the Department of Health, a total of 81,773 dengue patients have been hospitalized in the country since January this year and 323 have died.
Incidentally, from January to December 2024, 1,1,214 dengue patients were hospitalized in the country and 575 died. The previous year, 2023, recorded the highest number of dengue cases and deaths in the country—3,21,179 people were infected and 1,705 died.
