The National Sports Council (NSC) has formed a five-member committee to investigate allegations of irregularities, manipulation, and abuse of power in the 2025 Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections.

The panel has been asked to submit its report within 15 working days.

The move follows written complaints submitted in two phases by clubs and divisional councillors, alleging election irregularities and government interference.

A letter signed by NSC Joint Secretary Md. Solaiman Khan states that the committee was formed with the approval of the State Minister for Youth and Sports and NSC Chairman Aminul Haque to impartially verify claims of “widespread irregularities, manipulation, and misuse of power” during the elections and make necessary recommendations.

Former Supreme Court Justice A K M Asaduzzaman has been appointed as the committee’s chairperson. Members include Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Md. Selim Fakir, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (South) Mohammad Nasirul Islam, senior sports journalist ATM Saiduzzaman, and Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Saleh Akram Samrat.

The committee’s mandate covers reviewing the allegations of misconduct, collecting relevant documents, and recording statements from concerned individuals.

It will also assess whether the electoral process is complied with applicable rules and provide recommendations to ensure transparency in future BCB elections.
