6 Bengali films light up theaters this Eid-ul-Azha

The holy occasion of Eid-ul-Azha has brought a wave of excitement to cinema halls across the country, as six new Bengali films hit the big screen, turning the religious holiday into a festive celebration of cinema. Around 170 theaters nationwide are currently screening a vibrant mix of genres, stories, and star-studded casts.

Among the releases, ‘Taandob’, starring Shakib Khan and directed by Raihan Rafi, has taken the lead in terms of theater count. The high-octane action thriller has been released in a record-breaking 132 theaters. Sabila Noor stars opposite Shakib Khan for the first time, while Jaya Ahsan also plays a pivotal role. The film’s storyline centers around a dramatic attack on a television station, with tension and action woven throughout. The song ‘Lichubagane’ from the film has already become a popular topic among audiences. The film is produced by SVF Alpha I Entertainment Limited.

Another notable release is ‘Insaaf’, directed by Sanjay Samaddar, which has debuted in 15 theaters. Featuring Tasnia Farin, Mosharraf Karim, and Shariful Raj, the film focuses on the theme of social justice. This marks Tasnia Farin’s debut as a commercial film heroine and Mosharraf Karim’s first major negative role on the big screen. It is produced by Titas Kathachitra and TOT Films.

The thriller ‘Neelchokro’, starring Arifin Shuvo, has been released in six multiplexes. Directed by Mithu Khan, the film explores themes of cybercrime and digital addiction. The ensemble cast includes Mandira Chakraborty, Fazlur Rahman Babu, and others, contributing to its intense narrative.

In a mix of action and suspense, ‘Tagar’, featuring Adar Azad and Pooja Cherry, has been released in seven theaters. Directed by Alok Hasan and produced by AR Movie Network, the film’s visuals and soundtrack have already caught public attention. Supporting cast members include Rosie Siddiqui, Azad Abul Kalam, and LR Khan Simanto.

The crime mystery ‘Esha Murder: Karmaphal’, starring Azmeri Haque Badhon, has been released in four multiplexes. Directed by Sunny Sanwar, Badhon portrays a police officer investigating the gruesome murders of three young women. The film includes performances by Pooja, Faruk Ahmed, Shatabdi Wadud, and Misha Sawdagar.

Lastly, ‘Utshob’, a film that embraces the spirit of Eid with the slogan “Eid festival, cinema festival”, is showing in seven multiplexes. Directed by Tanim Noor, it marks the return of veteran actor Zahid Hasan to the silver screen. The film also stars Jaya Ahsan, Chanchal Chowdhury, Api Karim, and Sadia Ayman.

This Eid-ul-Azha, the diverse line-up of films has created a celebratory mood in theaters, drawing enthusiastic crowds and renewing excitement for local cinema. With stories ranging from intense thrillers to family-friendly dramas, the Eid holiday has truly transformed into a nationwide cinema festival.
