A total of 610 people have been killed and 4,746 injured in Iran over 12 days of continuous Israeli attacks, according to the Iranian Ministry of Health, as reported by Al Jazeera.
Hossein Kermanpour, spokesperson for the Ministry, said, “971 of the injured are still receiving treatment in hospitals. Among them, 687 people in critical condition have undergone surgery.”
The Al Jazeera report noted that women and children are among the casualties. “Thirteen children have died, the youngest only two months old,” it said. “Among the 49 women killed, two were pregnant.”
Kermanpour added, “Medical workers were also among the victims. Five healthcare workers were killed, and 20 others were injured. Additionally, the attacks damaged seven hospitals, six emergency service centers, four clinics, and nine ambulances.”
Authorities said Iran’s healthcare system is under immense strain. “Maximum alert has been issued across the country to ensure the treatment of the injured and the continuation of emergency services,” officials stated.
