64 more killed in Gaza, 13 dead while collecting aid
The death toll in Gaza continues to climb as Israeli attacks persist. In the last 24 hours alone, 64 more Palestinians have lost their lives. Among them, 13 were killed during an Israeli strike while attempting to collect aid. An additional five people died in a bombing at a busy market in the Gaza Strip, and at least three others have succumbed to starvation.
This information was reported by Al Jazeera on Wednesday (August 27). According to the report, Israeli operations in Gaza City have intensified significantly. Soldiers are moving into neighborhoods, destroying them one after another, causing a sharp rise in displacement. Many residents are desperately searching for shelter.
Due to the Israeli blockade, a man-made famine in Gaza has reached a critical level. Over 300 people, including 117 children, have already died from lack of food.
Verified video footage from Al Jazeera shows thousands of people fleeing from the As-Saftawi area in northern Gaza to save their lives. Men, women, and children are seen walking in lines through rubble-filled streets. Some are carrying bags, blankets, or bedding, while others push carts loaded with belongings or hold the hands of small children as they walk.
It is estimated that around one million people are being forced to move to southern Gaza by Israeli forces.
According to the Palestinian Civil Defense, since August 6, Israel has completely destroyed more than 1,000 buildings in the Zaytoun and Sabra areas of Gaza City as part of an ongoing military operation.
Gaza’s Ministry of Health reports that since the US- and Israel-backed GHF (Global Humanitarian Foundation) took over aid distribution in late May this year, more than 2,100 Palestinians have been killed while trying to collect aid.
Meanwhile, ignoring international pressure, Israeli forces are advancing further into Gaza City. As the attacks intensify, more Palestinians are being forced to flee their homes.
