7 killed as Russian military cargo plane crashes near Moscow
A Russian military cargo aircraft crashed near the city of Ivanovo, close to Moscow, on Tuesday, killing all seven people on board, including the pilot.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, the aircraft was an AN-22 military transport plane typically used for carrying cargo. The plane was on a test flight following engine repairs when it encountered technical issues shortly after takeoff.
The aircraft went down in an uninhabited area of the Ivanovo region, and authorities confirmed that no casualties occurred on the ground.
A commission has been formed to investigate the cause of the crash, and officials say the probe is already underway.
