At least 70 people were reportedly killed in Pakistan following a missile strike by India, according to Indian media outlet NDTV. The report described the victims as "terrorists."

The report, published on Wednesday (May 7), cited anonymous government sources but did not name any specific authority.

According to the report, India launched coordinated missile strikes on nine locations in Pakistan-administered Kashmir in retaliation for a recent attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. The operation, dubbed "Operation Sindoor," reportedly involved 24 missiles and resulted in the deaths of at least 70 people and injuries to around 60 others.

The targeted areas included Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Bahawalpur, Rawalakot, Chaksawari, Bhimber, Neelum Valley, Jhelum, and Chakwal. Indian sources claimed these sites were bases for militant groups Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, which they described as hubs of terrorist activity.

Pakistan, however, accused India of attacking civilians. Officials in Islamabad reported that 26 people were killed, including several women and a child, and said two mosques were also struck.

In retaliation, Pakistan’s Ministry of Defence claimed to have launched counterstrikes. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif stated that Pakistani forces had shot down five Indian fighter jets and that three people were killed in retaliatory attacks within Indian territory.
