72 more Palestinians killed in Gaza by Israeli attacks, 7 die of starvation
The bodies of 72 more Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza in the past 24 hours have been brought to hospitals, and at least 356 have been injured. In addition, seven others, including a child, have died due to the imposed famine.
Citing the Gaza Health Ministry, the Turkish news agency Anadolu News reported that since the start of the war on October 7, 2023, the death toll from Israeli attacks in the past 23 months has reached 64,718, with at least 163,859 people injured.
"Many of the injured are still trapped under the rubble and on the road. As a result, rescuers are unable to reach them. Therefore, the actual casualties will be higher," the ministry said.
On the other hand, 411 people have died of starvation in the valley, which the United Nations has declared a full-scale famine, 142 of whom are children. Of these, 133 people, including 27 children, have died since the UN-backed Hunger Monitoring Program (IPC) declared Gaza a famine zone last month. And since Israeli authorities completely closed all border crossings into Gaza on March 2, the territory's 2.4 million population has been on the brink of famine.
Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera, citing the Palestinian national news agency Wafa, reported that as of Wednesday evening (September 10), 53 of the dead had died in Gaza City and 10 in other parts of the Strip from Israeli shelling.
The remaining 9 people were killed and more than 87 injured in drone strikes and indiscriminate shooting by Israeli forces while collecting humanitarian aid at the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) relief center. As a result, the number of aid seekers killed since the establishment of the Israeli- and US-backed GHF on May 27 has reached 2,465, and at least 17,948 have been injured.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas attacked the Gaza Strip, killing 1,200 Israelis and taking 251 hostages. There are still 48 prisoners in Gaza. At least 20 of them are believed to be alive. Israel is continuing its military operation across Gaza, claiming to rescue them.
Despite announcing a ceasefire on January 19 of this year under pressure from the United States and other mediating countries, Israel has been conducting military operations again since March 18. So far, 12,170 Palestinians have been killed and 51,818 injured in this second phase of the operation.
