8 Bangladeshi nationals killed in a road crash in Oman

A devastating road accident in Oman on Wednesday (8 October) resulted in the deaths of eight Bangladeshi expatriates.

The incident took place at approximately 3:30pm (local time) in the Dukhum Sidra area. Seven of the victims hailed from the Sarikait Union of Sandwip, Chattogram.

The victims were identified as Amin Soudagar, Arju, Roky, Bablu, Shahabuddin, Jewel, Rony, and Alaudin from Raozan.

According to local authorities, the victims were returning from a fishing trip when their private car collided head-on with a fish-laden truck coming from the opposite direction. The collision resulted in the instant death of all ten people in the car, with seven of the deceased being from Sandwip.

Eyewitness Sajib Chowdhury, a resident of Sandwip, said that the group had been fishing as usual before heading home. The truck, which was traveling in the opposite direction, collided with their vehicle, causing the tragic loss of life.

The bodies of the victims have been transferred to Dukhum hospital’s morgue.
