8 burnt in private car fire at Mohammadpur servicing centre
Eight people have been burnt in a fire that started in a private car following a gas leak at a servicing centre on Humayun Road in Mohammadpur, capital.
They were brought to the emergency department of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery around 3:45 pm on Monday, March 2, in a burnt condition.
The injured are Md Tarek, 23; Md Mona, 40; Miraj, 36; Rehan Badol, 23; Md Jony, 35; Md Akash, 25; Md Azad, 55; and Irfan, 11.
Local resident Arman, who assisted in the rescue, said the fire originated from a private car parked at the servicing centre on Humayun Road. The owner and workers present at the centre sustained burns. They were later brought to the hospital.
Dr Shaon Bin Rahman, Resident Surgeon at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said eight people were brought to the hospital's emergency department with burns from a gas cylinder explosion in a private car in Mohammadpur. Six of them have been discharged. Two have been admitted. These two have suffered 15 to 20 per cent burns. The others had between one and five per cent burns.
