9-year-old girl allegedly raped in Banani

A nine-year-old girl from Muktagacha upazila in Mymensingh is currently undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) following a brutal sexual assault in the capital's Banani area on Monday night.

According to law enforcement sources, the child—reportedly wandering alone—was attacked around 8 p.m. behind a hospital. The culprit, whose identity remains unknown, allegedly forced the girl’s face down and raped her in a secluded corner, before fleeing the scene.

Locals discovered the girl in a severely distressed condition and quickly informed police. Sub-inspector Md Rafique of Banani Police Station responded and transported her to DMCH’s Emergency Unit for urgent medical care.

“She’s being treated for serious physical and emotional trauma,” Rafique confirmed, adding that police are actively working to identify and arrest the suspect.

The incident has sparked outrage and calls for heightened child protection measures across the city.

In a separate case, four individuals accused in connection with the leaked rape video from Muradnagar have been remanded as investigations continue.
