A mother's small request leads to 'Khelaghar' at Indian Visa Centre

A small request from a mother has led to the creation of a 'Khelaghar' (play area) for children at the Indian Visa Application Centre in Dhaka. The play area at the Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) located in the capital's Jamuna Future Park was inaugurated by Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi.

High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi had visited the Indian Visa Application Centre for the first time after assuming charge in Dhaka. On that day, a mother who had come to apply for a visa spoke with him. She highlighted the difficulties parents face while waiting with their children during visa applications and related formalities, and requested a safe play area for children.

That request has now been fulfilled within a few weeks. The Indian High Commission said that following the mother's suggestion, a separate corner called 'Khelaghar' has been created for children at the visa application centre. The mother was also invited to the inauguration with her child. She inaugurated the very place she had requested, bringing her own child along.

The Indian High Commission in Dhaka said in a statement that a simple request from a mother can sometimes initiate significant change. During the high commissioner's first visit to the visa application centre, the mother had raised the need for a safe play area for children. Her intention was to ensure children could be in a safe and comfortable environment while parents completed their visa applications and related tasks.

The High Commission said the request was fulfilled within a short time. 'Khelaghar' is not just a play area for children but an initiative to make the experience of families visiting the visa application centre more comfortable. Making the waiting time enjoyable and safe for children is one of the key objectives of this initiative.

At the inaugural event, High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi said small suggestions arising from people's everyday experiences and needs can bring important changes. The Indian High Commission said such people-centric initiatives make the relationship between Bangladesh and India more vibrant. The High Commission believes the strongest foundation of the relationship between the two countries is the people of both nations.
