Abhishek Sharma continues to redefine T20 batting. The Punjab left-handed opener unleashed a brutal assault on Bengal’s bowlers in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy today, smashing a fifty off just 12 balls and a century off 32 balls during the match in Hyderabad. His 148 off 52 balls powered Punjab to a massive 310 for 5.

Before falling in the 18th over, Abhishek hit eight fours and 16 sixes at a strike rate of 284.61. He scored 50 runs of his fifty entirely from boundaries five fours and five sixes, taking only a single in between without facing any dot balls.

In reply, Bengal’s Abhimanyu Easwaran fought hard with an unbeaten 130 off 66 balls, featuring 13 fours and eight sixes. But his effort fell short as Bengal were bowled out for 198, handing Punjab a 112-run win.

Abhishek’s century was his eighth in T20 cricket, equalling Rohit Sharma among Indian players, with only Virat Kohli ahead with nine.

He also broke his own record for most sixes by an Indian in a calendar year. After hitting 87 sixes in 2024, he has now reached 91 sixes in just 33 matches this year. He also holds India’s highest strike rate 189.51 in international T20s.
