ACC chairman Mohsin Naqvi arrives in Dhaka
Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), has arrived in Dhaka to lead the ACC Annual General Meeting (AGM). He was warmly welcomed by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam Bulbul upon his arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday.
During his visit to Dhaka, Naqvi will chair the ACC Annual General Meeting, scheduled for July 24 and 25 at a five-star hotel. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), as the host, has completed all necessary preparations. As of yesterday, the BCB confirmed participation from 19 countries. Several officials from various cricket boards have already arrived in Dhaka, including PCB Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseem, who arrived on Tuesday.
As per ACC rules, a quorum for the AGM requires the presence of at least three full Test member countries and ten associate member countries. However, India, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan have announced they will boycott this year’s meeting.
According to sources, the PCB and BCB are working together to persuade Afghanistan to attend the meeting to fulfill the quorum requirement. Although Afghanistan has verbally agreed to participate, a last-minute withdrawal could lead to the postponement of the AGM.
