Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President and Pakistan’s Home Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi arrived in Dhaka today for an official visit, during which he held a high-level meeting with Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, adviser to the Ministry of Youth and Sports as well as Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.
In a significant diplomatic gesture, Naqvi extended condolences on behalf of Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif over the recent tragic plane crash near Milestone College in Uttara, expressing solidarity with the Bangladeshi people.
During the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of deepening bilateral cooperation in the field of sports, with particular focus on cricket, hockey, and kabadi.
Discussions centered around joint development initiatives, talent exchange programs, and infrastructure support to boost regional sports engagement, according to a statement released on Wednesday (July 23) by the ministry.
The two dignitaries also explored avenues for collaboration beyond sports, including youth skill development, technical training, and employment generation. They discussed mutual interest in academic exchanges, scholarships, and higher education opportunities to enhance people-to-people ties between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Highlighting the growing warmth in bilateral relations, Naqvi formally invited the Sports Adviser to visit Pakistan for further discussions and partnership-building.
