ACC Summons Shakib Al Hasan over stock market manipulation case

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned cricketer and former Magura-1 MP Shakib Al Hasan for questioning over alleged stock-market manipulation.

A notice issued from the ACC headquarters on Thursday (November 20) asked him to appear on November 26.

According to ACC officials, accused Md Abul Khair alias Hiru had long been manipulating the stock market, causing major investor losses and transferring illicit funds through various channels.

Shakib is among 15 individuals summoned for questioning on 25–26 November.

The case alleges that over Tk 256 crore was embezzled through market manipulation on 17 June. Shakib has been asked to appear on 26 November at 10:00am to provide his statement.

The ACC is also probing allegations of unexplained wealth against him.

Following the political transition, Shakib has additionally faced a murder case filed at Adabar Police Station and an arrest warrant issued on 19 January in a cheque dishonor case.
