Activities of Bhola Sadar Upazila unit BNP committee suspended
All activities of the Bhola Sadar Upazila unit BNP committee have been suspended following a clash between BNP and Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) leaders and activists.
The matter was announced in a press release signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Saturday (November 1) midnight.
The release said: "All activities of the Sadar Upazila unit BNP committee under Bhola district will remain suspended until further orders."
Earlier, on Saturday afternoon, a clash was ensued between BNP and BJP leaders and activists in front of the district BJP office located in Notun Bazar in Bhola district town. About fifty leaders and activists from both sides were injured in the clash, along with police and journalists. The situation heated up due to injuries from brickbats and sticks. Local leaders have blamed each other and are claiming that the clash was pre-planned.
Locals say the clash occurred over BNP's nomination for the Bhola-1 Sadar constituency in the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections.
