Actor Ataur Rahman on life support
The physical condition of legendary theatre and television actor Ataur Rahman has become extremely critical. He is currently on life support at a private hospital in the capital. His condition has deteriorated repeatedly, raising concern among his family and well-wishers.
According to family sources, Ataur Rahman fell at his home a few days ago. His condition deteriorated rapidly, and he was immediately admitted to a private hospital in the capital.
He was initially placed on life support after admission. After showing some improvement, doctors removed the life support. However, with his condition deteriorating again, doctors placed him back on life support for the second time.
Speaking to the media about her father's current condition, Sharmistha Rahman said, "Doctors have informed me that multiple organs of my father have failed. I pray to everyone for his recovery."
Ataur Rahman is a celebrated figure in Bangladesh's theatre scene, known as an actor, director and writer. He played an active role in the country's group theatre movement in the post-independence era. His production of 'Rakta Karabi' for the Nagarik Natya Sampradaya was widely acclaimed. He has received both the Ekushey Padak and the Independence Day Award for his contributions to the country's culture and theatre.
