Actress Bobby gets bail after surrendering in fraud case
Actress Yamim Haque Bobby has been granted bail in a fraud case filed at Gulshan Police Station over allegations of failing to pay nearly Tk 7 lakh for batteries purchased from a company named Itui Solutions Limited.
Bobby surrendered before the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Josita Islam in Dhaka on Wednesday, July 15, and sought bail. Dhaka Bar Association President Advocate Anwar Zahid Bhuiyan argued on her behalf. After the hearing, the court granted her bail on a Tk 1,000 bond.
Earlier on July 12, Mehedi Alam Prince, Senior Manager of Itui Solutions Limited, filed the case with Gulshan Police Station against Bobby and three others. The other accused are Mirza Abul Bashar, Managing Director of BTL, Deputy General Manager Abdul Ahad Mia, and Admin Sohel Rana.
According to the case, Abul Bashar contacted Itui Solutions Limited on November 12 last year, requesting the supply of lithium iron batteries for his company. Accordingly, on November 20, Mehedi Alam Prince supplied five 64-volt 170-amp batteries worth Tk 6,72,954 to the BTL office in Gulshan.
The case further alleges that although the accused were supposed to pay the battery price, they procrastinated without paying on time. On January 11, when Mehedi Alam Prince went to their office to demand the due payment, they refused to pay and threatened him, forcing him out of the office. The accused allegedly misappropriated Tk 6,72,954 in a pre-planned manner.
It is noteworthy that Mirza Abul Bashar has been previously identified as Bobby's business partner in media reports. In 2024, Bobby and Abul Bashar were also accused in a case filed over theft and assault at a Gulshan restaurant; she had also surrendered and obtained bail in that case.
