Actress Nipun barred at Sylhet airport
The immigration police have barred Nasrin Akhter Nipun, former general secretary of the Bangladesh Film Actress and Film Artists Association, while she was flying from Sylhet Osmani International Airport to London.
The immigration police prevented her on Friday (January 10) morning while she was flying to the UK on Bangladesh Biman flight BG-201 following objections from the National Security Intelligence Service (NSI).
Nipun was flying to London via Osmani International Airport. She was taken into custody at the time. Later, she was released after questioning.
The immigration police said that when the NSI objected to Nipun's trip to London, the airport authorities detained her for questioning.
After checking Nipun's passport and documents, her flight was canceled. It is still unclear why the NSI objected.
An official of the Osmani Airport Immigration Police, who did not wish to be named, said: "In view of the objection of the NSI, the Immigration Police offloaded Nipun from the Immigration and sent her back around 9:20am while she was going to London. We have taken action as per their instructions. She has not been detained or arrested so far," he added.
