Poly, a familiar name in Dhallywood, has returned to the camera after 12 years. She has resumed her film career with the new film Dena Pawna, directed by Sadeq Siddiqui. The government-funded film is based on a short story by Rabindranath Tagore, and Poly’s comeback begins with an item song in the production.

The song was filmed on Wednesday on Floor 8 of BFDC. It was composed by renowned music director Sheikh Sadi Khan and choreographed by Yusuf Khan. Stage, television and film actor Mahmudul Islam Mithu, popularly known as “Borda Mithu”, performed alongside Poly.

Regarding her return to acting, Poly said, “I am shooting again after 12 years. This song marks the start of my third innings. I received many offers, but nothing matched properly. I was busy with family and business. Now I thought I could do one or two films a year, so I have started again.”

With her characteristic confidence, she added, “Poly means surprise. This song will also be a new surprise for the audience.”

Poly made her big-screen debut opposite Manna in the 2003 film Fire, directed by Mohammad Hossain. Over the next 13 years, she acted in nearly 113 films, sharing the screen with Dhallywood stars such as Manna, Shakib Khan, Rubel, Amin Khan, Amit Hasan and Mehedi. Her last released film was Raju Chowdhury’s Ek Number Asami in 2012.

Despite staying away from acting, Poly did not step away from life. The Gulshan-based actress is now a mother of four and runs her own boutique house. Filmmakers say her screen presence remains as powerful as before.

Shooting for Dena Pawna is ongoing, while audiences eagerly await how striking Poly’s return to the big screen will be after such a long break.
