Algerian Ambassador to Dhaka Abdel Wahab Saldani presented a boat to Adviser to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan at the 71st anniversary celebration of the Algerian Revolution.

After the incident, the adviser himself clarified the matter in a Facebook post. At the same time, he asked what to do with the gift.

He wrote: "Last evening, on the National Day of Algeria, I attended as the chief guest, as nominated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I was presented a boat as a gift. As a diplomatic courtesy: I accepted it. The name of the embassy is written on the gift. Note that it has nothing to do with the election symbol of the Awami League."

He also wrote: "Now I can send it back to the Algerian embassy. It would be disrespectful and demeaning; I can deposit it in the government treasury. Although it is not very valuable; I can keep it in the Shailan old age home; or I can keep it myself."

On Saturday, the Algerian Embassy in Dhaka celebrated the 71st anniversary of the glorious revolution of 1954 at a hotel in the capital. Adviser Fouzul Kabir Khan graced the event as the chief guest.
